A last minute phone call from a good friend of GOTO:Racings informed us of an open sound event at Laguna Seca this past weekend. GOTO:Racing had no tires or brakes for the race, but decided to make the trip down from their shop to put the car on display. Club Auto Sport hosted a spectacular event with a wide range of cars from historic stock cars, IMSA cars, to current race prepped vehicles. The event drew a large crowd from the local community and GOTO:Racing driver Brian Lock was on hand to sign autographs and with his crew they answered all the fans questions on this one of a kind race car.
It was not just to be a car show however for the R35 GT-R racecar, fan attention was so high that the decision was made to enter the car in Sunday afternoons race so that fans could see the GT-R in action. Despite having practically corded R888's and questionable brakes, Brian Lock put on a great show and came in fifth behind two IMSA prototypes, a Can-Am car, a World Challenge Corvette running slicks, and a GT3 Cup car on slicks. Brian's sideways antics down the corkscrew drew a standing ovation from fans after the race had finished.
"This kind of event is great for our sponsors and for the general exposure of the GT-R," commented Brian Lock, "I hope that some of the contacts that we made this weekend will help with our goals for 2010." Those goals definitely include the GT-R running in a professional road racing series, as well as possible other Nissan's running under the GOTO banner. More details on the 2010 season will be available soon.
